The documentary Diane Warren: Relentless tells the story of a genius songwriter who has written over 400 songs for iconic artists such as Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Celine Dion, Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, and Aerosmith. From humble beginnings, she knew what shwanted to do from a young age and was relentless in pursuing her goal. Believing in herself, daring to be herself in her own way, and never quitting, Diane Warren changed “Impossible” into
“I’m possible.”

+ Q and A with the director, Matt Steeves

The short, Save Solace documents the work of a group advocating to stop the planned construction of a new logging road that would dissect the Solace Wildlands, the last unprotected and roadless forest in Ontario’s Temagami wilderness. Joining us will be Director Matt Steeves, who specializes in cinematic storytelling and is driven by a curiosity about the human connection with the natural world.

Porcelain War tells the story of a group of artists from Ukraine who persevere against all odds.
The opening scene of a peaceful field, butterflies, and painted porcelain figures contrasts strongly with the destruction caused by war in subsequent scenes. This film shows that while it’s easy to make people afraid, it’s much harder to destroy their passion for living. This is a beautifully shot film that explores spaces of beauty within destruction. It is a story of love, art, friendship and survival.

7:30pm: Beethoven’s Nine: Ode to Humanity (85 min.) + Q&;A with director Larry Weinstein

Our evening film, Beethoven’s Nine: Ode to Humanity follows nine people around the world who are grappling with the message of hope in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. We hear from a deaf composer, a Polish rock star, an author, a legendary cartoonist and the director, Larry Weinstein. We are very pleased that Mr. Weinstein will be a special guest for the screening.
This latest documentary, Beethoven’s Nine, turned out to be deeply personal with anunexpected event that happened during the filming. Weinstein says he believes that Beethoven wrote the ninth symphony as a love letter to humanity and a love letter to the future. The film
looks at the inspiration music can provide and how humanity can continue to look for hope even in the darkest times.
